Our History
A collection of invaluable experiences that we put into practice
Pure Form began (under a different name) in 2000 in Telluride, Colorado. Headquartered in a funky second-story Victorian down a quaint alleyway, owner and principal Lisa Stidd designed for clients against the backdrop of ski slopes within the bowl of mountain peaks. Inspiration was a constant and the connection to the land, very deep. Through architectural work and plenty of hiking, biking and skiing, she developed her language with the land, while building lasting relationships with clients, builders, developers and realtors.
Seeking change and a larger project base, Lisa relocated the firm to Portland, Oregon, in 2008. As she learned the language of the land in the Pacific Northwest, she had the opportunity to work with leaders in sustainability and green building. This five-year period of great professional growth and a varied project base of work led to Lisa’s next move in her journey: south to Santa Barbara, where the mountains meet the sea.
In Santa Barbara, the firm took on its first partner and grew its scope and geographic reach, across Santa Barbara, the Northwest, Telluride, Maui and elsewhere. Lisa found her new home in 2019, moving the practice full time to Maui, Hawaii.
Today, Pure Form remains a small studio, allowing for flexibility while bringing a high degree of integrity and consistency to their work and clients. Each project affords Lisa and her team a new opportunity to connect and learn the way of another, and in their environment to take a fresh approach with an open, curious mind and heart.
