Lisa grew up around building and the trades, with extended family members working in the electrical contracting, framing and land development businesses. She spent a summer while attending the University of Illinois School of Architecture framing houses in Southern Michigan, an experience that greatly impacted her understanding of construction and appreciation for creating with her own hands. After her first design internship, she spent several formative years with a cutting-edge residential design firm in Boca Raton, Florida. She then moved westward to Telluride, Colorado in 1992, and in 2000 started the small firm that has evolved into Pure Form Design Studio.

Lisa values endless connectivity and living life in the moment. Most days, you’ll likely find her working from a coffee shop or café table, preferring these to any office walls. As she puts it, “The freedom to create where I am called is a necessity.” Lisa’s other passions are her three adult children, cycling in the mountains or seaside, hiking, and living serendipitously.

As a Georgia native, I grew up exploring every aspect of the outdoors from mountain biking, to backpacking to whitewater kayaking. Through recent study abroad experiences in the pacific, I realized my passion for Sustainable Design and Architecture. I have spent much of my life contemplating ways to preserve the same outdoors I grew up in. More recently though, I’ve also been dreaming ways to create, customize and build homes in which people can live their best lives co-habitating with their environment.

In 2018, I graduated from the Univ. of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Ecology, while simultaneously falling in love with a wood working hobby. After making some career changes as a pre-med student, I joined “three… a design studio” on the island of Maui in the summer of 2018, bringing a reverence for the outdoors and a drive to create spaces that can connect people with them. I have been with the firm since then and in the fall of 2019 I will be attending Clemson University for their M. Arch III Program to further my career path. The great outdoors still remains my primary residence, be it travelling the globe or rediscovering my own backyard on the Appalachian Trail, you’re likely to find me somewhere outside with my toes in the dirt and paint on my hands.

Annelise Blair
Research Director – Santa Barbara
annelise@studiopureform.com

Annelise Blair’s twenty plus years of executive project management and idea development, fueled by a healthy curiosity, productive listening, and thorough research and planning, brought her, in 2019, to a serendipitous collaboration with PURE FORM. As our Research Director, Annelise is currently digging into the work of neuroscientists, physicists and ‘thought leaders’, bringing the concepts of quantum physics and the interconnectedness of the human experience and how it relates to space to Pure Form so that we may consciously work with and offer our clients a depth which surpasses what we put on paper. Annelise thrives outside, actively engaged in the magic of the natural world. Influenced by her current line of research, she is intrigued by the metaphysical, and is working on developing her intuition and her ability to contribute to the health, happiness, and peace of others. Check out her blogs linked to our Pure Form website to understand more about what she is bringing.

Studio Pure Form

We believe in timelessness.

Pure Form creates timeless places. We value the conscious present and the emotional, physical and spiritual benefits of staying in the moment. We also understand that change is the only constant, and in our process we will all change.

We’re part of something bigger.

Through both our daily design studio practice and our ongoing research, Pure Form is committed to being a dynamic force and leading voice in our niche of this evolving movement. This means that when you build a relationship with Pure Form, you can expect a high level of discernment — taking what we see, hear and experience, and going deeper on every level to build on these experiences. This is how we create with you.

We work where you lead us.

Our team is flexible and nomadic in spirit, open to traveling and exploring far beyond our home bases to build a relationship with you in your environment. No matter where our/your creations take us, we delight in learning about and supporting local artisans and craftspeople, understanding the traditional building methods and styles in each new environment, and understanding how the culture forms your project.
